LB 89 All-Ages Sports and Facilities Ban Advances to Second Round of Debate, OutNebraska Responds
LINCOLN, NE – Following the advancement of LB 89 to the second round of debate in the Nebraska Legislature, OutNebraska Executive Director Abbi Swatsworth issued the following statement:
Senator Kauth’s dangerous bill continues to move through the legislative process, bringing us one step closer to her harmful idea becoming law.
OutNebraska will continue fighting this destructive bill or any bills like it.
We will continue to build a coalition to defeat this bill.
We defeated LB 575 in the last session, and we can stop LB 89. It will take all of us—sharing our stories, connecting with allies, and contacting our Senators to oppose this bill in the next round of debate.
We urge every gay and transgender person, those who know and love us, and community members who oppose government overreach to contact their Senators to say no to LB 89. Now is the time to act—our communities are depending on it.
