LINCOLN, NEB – In response to today’s advancement of LB732, OutNebraska Interim Executive Director AT Miller issued the following statement:
The fight continues as this dangerous bill moves toward debate. LB732 is a step backwards for transgender youth, their families, and all Nebraskans who value parental rights.
LB732 bans access to medically necessary healthcare for transgender Nebraskans under 19 years old. By limiting access to puberty blockers and hormones, this bill replaces medical expertise with political interference. LB732 is government overreach into deeply personal medical decisions.
We want to recognize the powerful coalition that showed up to oppose this bill. You testified. You submitted comments. You demanded your stories be heard. We especially thank the senators who voted against advancing LB732.
We have defeated harmful bills before, and we can defeat this one, too. It will take all of us telling our stories, reaching the people who care about us, and talking to our senators.
