Building Bridges of Support for LGBTQIA2S+ Youth | MENTOR Nebraska & Elevate Omaha

MENTOR Nebraska invites you to join us at the “Building Bridges of Support for LGBTQIA2S+ Youth” convening on Saturday, October 7. This empowering all-day event will bring together youth, educators, and mentoring professionals to initiate a crucial dialogue about bolstering the support system for LGBTQIA2S+ youth in Nebraska. Our mission is to amplify the voices and needs of LGBTQIA2S+ youth and proactively seek solutions to connect them with the support they rightfully deserve both in and out of school. The event will feature a youth panel, inspiring keynote speaker, resource fair, and two engaging training options:

1. “Amplifying Youth Voice,” a 90-minute youth-led vision casting session facilitated by Elevate Omaha, will provide a platform for LGBTQIA2S+ youth to share their perspectives.
2. “Askable Adults,” a 3.5 hour session led by Lisa Schulze from the Women’s Fund of Omaha and Susie Owens from MENTOR Nebraska, will equip you with the knowledge and comfort to discuss age-appropriate sexuality topics with young people.

Together, we aim to uplift LGBTQIA2S+ voices, improve mentoring support, and equip educators and youth-serving professionals with valuable tools to create more inclusive environments. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of positive change and show your support for Omaha’s LGBTQIA2S+ youth!
