The Keya House | Lincoln, NE

A free, voluntary mental health respite home in Lincoln for adults 19 and older who are experiencing distress — whether from a mental health challenge, substance use, grief, or a difficult life event.

Guests get their own room and 24/7 peer support from trained Peer Specialists for up to 5 nights. No diagnosis required. You can self-refer or be referred by a health professional or family member.

Guests must reside within the Region 5 service area and have permanent housing to return to after their stay. Call before visiting.

Gender-Affirming Care Grant Resources

Financial support for gender-affirming care can be hard to find — but it exists. The resources below offer grants, funds, and microgrants to help cover surgeries, HRT, and other transition-related costs. OutNebraska does not facilitate any of these resources. Please verify current availability before applying, as programs may be inactive or selective.

Genderbands

An international nonprofit offering annual surgery grants to trans and gender-diverse people, with applications available in both English and Spanish.

Point of Pride

Offers multiple ongoing programs including an Annual Trans Surgery Fund, HRT access support, electrolysis funding, and free binders and shapewear for trans folks who need them.

Darcy Jeda Corbitt Foundation

Provides surgery grants specifically for trans women of color who face financial barriers to gender-affirming care.

Rizi Timane Annual Transgender Surgery Grant

An annual grant covering gender-affirming surgery costs for trans people with demonstrated financial need.

Trans Lifeline Microgrants

A trans-led microgrant program offering direct financial assistance to trans people in crisis, relaunched in December 2025.
