Position Description

Working closely with the Communications Manager and an existing event plan, the Marketing and Events Intern will help the OutNebraska team execute the 2025 OutNebraska Legislative Day event. In addition, the intern will help to execute ongoing general communications to supporters and advocates. This position will primarily be remote but availability to work with the team during business hours is essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Using an existing plan, execute and support 2025 Legislative Day activities to help community members access the Nebraska Legislature
  • Write copy with guidance for the email newsletter and occasional update emails
  • Create and schedule social media content as directed
  • Regularly update content on OutNebraska website including bill tracker page
  • Assist with maintaining online community calendar

  • Well-rounded interpersonal, relational skills
  • Detail-oriented work practices
  • Ability to collaborate on team efforts
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • College sophomore (2nd year) or above preferred

Learning Opportunities

  • Gain experience with nonprofit digital communication strategies 
  • Gain experience with advocacy event planning, including working with a CRM platform
  • Gain experience with the legislative process at the state level

Compensation and Benefits

This position is part-time, temporary November 2024 – May 2025 as relevant to the legislative session, with an expectation of 10-15 hours per week.

Compensation will be paid $600/monthly stipend not to exceed $4,200. There are no benefits available for this position.
