Dr. David P. Forsythe is University Professor and Charles J. Mach Distinguished Professor of Political Science, Emeritus, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. Educated at Wake Forest (BA) and Princeton (MA, PHD) Universities, he joined the faculty at UNL in 1973 where he served as Department Chair between 1993 and 1998. In the fall of 2008, he was the recipient of the Senior Fulbright Distinguished Research Chair for Human Rights and International Studies at the Danish Institute for International Studies, Copenhagen.

He has been recognized by several professional organizations for his pioneering studies in human rights and humanitarian affairs. He is the founding Director of the UNL interdisciplinary program in human rights and humanitarian affairs. His numerous publications on different aspects of International Relations include The Contemporary International Committee of the Red Cross: Challenges, Changes, Controversies (Cambridge U. Press, 2024).
