On October 1, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services approved emergency regulations surrounding LB574 and access to gender-affirming care for minors. These regulations, drafted by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Timothy Tesmer, are now in effect.

At this time, OutNebraska is working with our legal, policy and healthcare partners to carefully review and interpret the regulations. We are listening to concerns from advocates, parents and community members in regards to possible increased barriers to care. In the meantime, we encourage individuals concerned about the regulations, and LB574 overall, to continue contacting their senators as well as Dr. Tesmer.

We know this is an extremely emotional and uncertain time for our community. To our young people and supportive parents: we see, hear and love you. If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, contact Trans Lifeline at 877-565-8860 or The Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386.

No matter what, we will continue to advocate for our transgender community members and their right to exist in our state.

In solidarity,

Abbi Swatsworth
Executive Director
